On this occasion, our client came to us with an objective in mind. She had an excellent block situated opposite Jackadder Lake in Woodlands. Not only did she want us to capture those views, but she also wanted the living areas to be accommodated upstairs as well.
Having established that she also entertains quite frequently, we set about designing a home that would satisfy all these needs. We provided a large living and kitchen area that captured all the views from every angle while incorporating a huge seamless balcony off the living area ideal for entertaining.
On top of this, we created a second living area downstairs which opens onto a north facing alfresco, perfect for those still winter days.
Capturing Views
We always endeavour to capture views if possible, and in this case, we designed and allowed for a full glass window to optimise the verdant views across to the park and lake beyond.
Coming along nicely with its final render our Lakeside delight is really starting to look the part. We only started on this home 6 months ago and all of the internal rendering has been completed and our trades are now finishing off the remaining areas.
Natural Light
Let’s face it, we spend more and more time in the kitchen these days, whether it be due to the resurgence in cooking shows, or the trend in healthier eating or gourmet style preparation of food, so we all have a common requirement for as much natural light as possible.
You will note that with this kitchen design we allowed for a bench height window to let in as much light as possible, with the added advantage of gaining glimpses of the outside world since this is a two storey structure. In the case of a single storey home, we would have allowed for a verdant garden or water feature immediately to be situated directly outside the window to make for a most pleasant environment. At night time, clever use of outdoor lighting could really highlight this feature.
